:. First Responder
.::. The 40-hour First Responder course trains students to enter the emergency response field with the basic skills needed to care for the sick and injured until higher-trained personnel arrive. Students will learn basic skills including, but not limited to, backboarding, bleeding and shock management, medical evaluation, and many others. There is no clinical component of the course. Students must pass a final written exam and practical skills at the national standard level. Attendance is mandatory. This course complies with Federal Department of Transportation and Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board guidelines to allow the student to become certified as a First Responder in the state of Minnesota.
